A Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to hold Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode and others responsible for the "disappearance" of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) from the country.
The court was also asked to order their arrest and prosecution after proper investigation into how the IPOB leader fled the country.
According to the plaintiff in the matter, Isaiah Agidi Ayugu, a lawyer, said Abaribe and Fani-Kayode aided Kanu's escape.
Joined in the suit dated October 31, 2018 as respondents are the Director-General, the State Security Service, the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force.
SaharaReporters obtained the court documents on Thursday, which was marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1254/18.
In the suit, the plaintiff asked the court to immediately order the respondents in the matter to commence investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape of Kanu from Nigeria after the Nigerian Army were accused of abducting, arresting, killing and assassinating him.
Aside Abaribe and Fani-Kayode, others accused of aiding Kanu's escape are Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallow Ben, Emmanuel Kanu and Uchechi Kanu.
In the suit filed through his counsel, Oghenovo Otemu, Ayugu prayed the court for an order mandating all the respondents in the case to investigate and prosecute Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallow Ben, Emmanuel Kanu, Uchechi Kanu and all those who worked together to propagate the falsehood that Kanu was abducted, kidnapped, arrested and detained by the Nigerian Military.
The document read in part: “An order mandating the respondents to investigate and prosecute Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallom Ben, Emmanuel Kanu, Uchechi Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and all those who worked together to propagate and spread the inciting lies and falsehood that Nnamdi Kanu was abducted, arrested, kidnapped, detained, killed and assassinated by the Nigerian Military when indeed they were well aware of Nnamdi Kanu’s whereabouts because they played roles in helping Nnamdi Kanu disappear from Nigeria."
The plaintiff said during the period when the blackmail was against the military and the Nigerian government, he suffered emotional and psychological trauma as his freedom of movement and rights were hindered both at home and abroad.
He added that there was pressure on the Federal Government by the duo of Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe and Femi Fani-Kayode, demanding the release of Kanu, dead or alive.
He said in the affidavit attached to the origination motion ex parte: "That the said Nnamdi Kanu, the so-called self acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group that has long been proscribed and designated a terrorist group is alive and was seen in Israel from where he called a World Press Conference and made a live broadcast of his new and renewed agenda for his group. In the broadcast, Kanu boasted that he will bring 'Hell to Nigeria'.
"That it is therefore clear that whilst Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallow Ben, Emmanuel Kanu, Uchechi Kanu, leaders of Afaraukwu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia state, the different Civil Liberty Organisations and media practitioners and so many others too numerous to mention were making several dangerous claims that Nnamdi Kanu has been killed, abducted or being held by the Army of government, they were aware that he was actually out of the country by their collective or respective assistance from where he resurfaced in video clips of him praying in Israel and subsequent video broadcast.
"That because Senator Abaribe took Nnamdi Kanu on bail, the case against Nnamdi Kanu has not seen the light of the day as Nnamdi Kanu has now jumped bail."
He also accused IPOB of stockpiling arms to "truncate the 2019 general election".
No date has been fixed yet for the hearing of the case.

It is very baffling that some women are still fragile to fight for gender equal rights in the society. Perhaps, they're simply unaware that they've been awarded similar rights as the opposite gender, though before now, women had on countless occasions resurrected fights, gone through tough times of struggles, as well as campaigning sessions; going to the extent of persuading other women to join in their crusade to eradicate the debasing issue of gender inequality. Despite that, it would be a blatant assumption to conclude it has been fully surmounted. However in recent days, women are not entirely received with despicable reputation.
Approaching the issue of gender equality, women are predisposed to certain barbaric sentiments, which has summoned upon them self degradation. They ought to know that they own equal rights as the other gender.
Women, from all indications, are engulfed by intense fear, mental depression, limitations to personal confidence, negative beliefs that subdue their level of self worth. This could stem from certain societal challenges or mistakes from their upbringing. Though women are by nature timorous, therefore, it isn't completely unexpected that their lag is taking a lengthy time in the society as well as on campus.
In some parts of Nigeria, particularly the Northern part where peoples' behaviour is regulated by customs and traditions, they place bounds to girl child education, discourage contact or any form of interaction with the opposite gender, dissuading women from societal exploration and even worse, women are prohibited from furthering their education to the university level.
What do you expect of a girl who was placed on the aforementioned restrictions? Is she supposed to be able to conquer fear and not avoid participation from any activity that is public related? Such women are mostly fenced in constant fear and most likely mental depression.
It is the bitter truth that in the northern part of Nigeria, an enormous amount of women have not the privilege to travel out of their states to another; they're conserved in the particular states they're born. It would be a great cause of challenge to these type of women if they're faced with women from other parts of the country.
Should our parents be blamed for this timidity and fear that surrounds the female folk? Some parents are as stern as rocks; they set some solid rules that affect the mentality and esteem of their children, and as a result, these children are exposed to silent psychological, mental, physical and intense emotional torture. Such victims are least expected to be full of life exuberance and raising the desire to feel among in the society.
Let's take an insight understanding of the words of one of the Inna who are cleaners in the hostel of the female students, UDUS main campus. "I can't take my girl child to the university, because I don't want to take my child to prostitution," a woman said.
If a parent thinks like that, how is the girl child of that parent expected to think? Such girl child have been automatically denied the rights to higher education, and are usually the children who are painted with more fear and are of little or no confidence, even though allowed to further, having been drained in such belief about the higher institutions being "prostitution"; such girl wouldn't out of the fear of being labelled a contemptible name.
The absence of exposure in the life of a girl child can influence their mentality into believing they're incapable of facing the world like the opposite sex. They're caged with fear of expression and socializing, a belief that leads to immortality and major course of their avoidance in many public activities.
Unlike those days when women could not be writers, women today are tendered the full rights to write and be writers, but only few women write. Some write and hide under their pillows for lack of confidence and the funks of criticism.
Women are therefore begged to build self confidence that allows them inherit their rights and frown fears that causes their avoidance from campus and societal benefiting privileges and active engagements.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has declared that the former domestic carrier, Chanchangi Airlines, no longer has operational Air Operators’ Certificate (AOC).
This is as the regulatory body said there is no controversy about the status of the airline, as its operations remain grounded.
A statement by the General Manager, NCAA Public Affairs, Sam Adurogboye, said the organisation's decision on the airline was in accordance with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs) 2015, Part 9.1.1.12(a).
Adurogboye explained that for the AOC of a scheduled operator like Chanchangi to remain valid, it must not cease operations for up to 30 days, while for non-scheduled, it can only remain valid for 90 days of non-operations.
Chanchangi Airlines was suspended in 2013 by the former Director-General of NCAA, Captain Fola Akinkuotu, when its operational aircraft reduced to just one from 11 at the time.
The statement read: “Except as provided in paragraph (b) of the section, no AOC holder may conduct a kind of operation for which it holds authority in its operations specifications, unless the AOC holder has conducted that kind of operation within the preceding number of consecutive calendar days specified in this paragraph: For scheduled operations - 30 days.
“For non-scheduled operations, 90 days except that if the AOC holder had authority to conduct scheduled operations, and has conducted scheduled operations within the previous 30 days, this paragraph does not apply. In other words it is not obtaining the AOC that is the most important, what defines an airline is the validity of its operational specifications.”
Adurogboye noted that since the airline in question was not operational, there was no way it could be issued a new AOC, stressing that it got the AOC when it was operating a Boeing 737 for cargo operations.
He said at the expiration of the mandatory number of days for initial operation as specified in NigCARs, the sanction was automatically activated and the airline had remained grounded ever since. The B737 aircraft, which it used for cargo, was leased by another airline and was at present unserviceable due to lack of maintenance.
However, investigation carried out by SaharaReporters indicated that there might have been some irregularities with the renewal of AOC of the airline by NCAA.
The document NCAA/DOT/CAL/VOL II/00117 issued on January 24, 2017 to the Managing Director of Chanchangi Airlines titled: ‘Renewal of Air Operators Certificate Number AFF/C/006’ was signed by the Director of Operations and Training, Captain A.M. Sidi for the Director General, Captain Mukhar Usman.
The document held that the AOC was valid from February 5, 2017 till February 4, 2019 for Passenger and Cargo. However the CAA said as at the time of the renewal, the Chanchangi Airlines was still airlifting cargo and when it no longer had the aircraft to continue that operation, its AOC was suspended after three months.
The AOC read: “Please find enclosed, a copy of your renewed Air Operators Certificate (AOC) for your retention. Your AOC becomes invalidated if you fail to comply with the relevant Nigerian CARS and may be amended in accordance with the provisions of Part 9.1.1.9.
“We therefore urge you to ensure that the management and staff of Chanchangi Airlines ensure strict compliance with all regulatory requirements at all time. Accept the assurances of our highest regards.”

A group of aggrieved aspirants who participated in the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Kaduna State, have vowed to work against the party in the 2019 general election.
A source close to the aspirants revealed that the showdown is inevitable and cuts across local, state and federal governments, noting that some of those who won the election but had their names substituted with preferred candidates of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, decided to remain with the party to enable them take their own 'pound of flesh'.
He cited how a candidate for Kawo North Constituency of State House of Assembly, Yusuf Salisu, who polled 99 votes ahead of his rival who came second with 44 votes, was replaced with one Ali Shakkis during the primaries. He also cited the case of one Abubakar Mamadi in Igabi Local Government, who got two votes while his opponent, Zayyad Ibrahim, polled 182 votes. However, Mamadi was declared winner of the election.
He said many party supporters have lost confidence in the party as a result of the "fraudulent way the primaries were conducted", stating that "80 per cent of those that were declared winners were influenced by the governor".
Five councillors in Kaduna South dumped the party and picked tickets under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while another settled for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
According to findings, the party may lose its grip in Zone 1 Zaria (Kaduna North) judging by the strength of the heavyweight opposition in the area. For example, the former PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi, is from the zone; the PDP governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru is from the area and former Deputy Governor Ramallan Yero is also a political figure to reckon with in the senatorial district.
Also, the alleged non-performance of the governor in the past three years may deal a heavy blow to the chances of the APC in the 2019 elections, as he is also accused of appointing inexperienced people, who are mainly his family, friends and close business associates.
The sacking of close to 5,000 traditional title holders on the premise that the government cannot pay them may also determine how far the governor will go in achieving his political ambition come 2019.
"For the first time, you will hear and see people challenging the governor openly that he influenced the results of the primaries. You will see the governor going to gathering and people shouting at him. He has buried APC in Kaduna State and they are just waiting for election day to perform the funeral," he said.
He condemned the undue influence and control by the governor on the party structure in the state, and accused the state chairman of the party, Emmanuel Jekada, of bias for accompanying one of the senatorial aspirants for the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Uba Sani, to Abuja to pick the party’s nomination form.
The source said: "His raising the hands of his political appointee Uba Sani, who is an aspirant is undemocratic and against the party’s Constitution, which states that aspirants should be treated equally."
Investigation revealed that Uba Sani, who is also the political adviser to the governor, allegedly substituted delegates in seven Local Government Areas, which make up Kaduna Central Zone with his loyalists and domestic aides to enable him use them to his advantage at the party primaries.

Often times, they formed from one egg, other times, they are formed from two. Often times, they are identical, other times, they are semi-identical. However, one thing that is constant is the bond they share as being formed within the same womb at the same time.
All thanks to Mary Slessor, the British missionary to Nigeria who is credited with stopping the killing of twins among the Ibibio people, otherwise the story of identical twin sisters Taiwo and Kehinde Lijadu may have ended the day they were born.
Born on October 22, 1948 in Jos, the Lijadu sisters who are second cousins of Fela Kuti began singing at an early age. The talent was nurtured by their mother, who bought music records by artistes such as Aretha Franklin, Miriam Makeba, Ray Charles, among others.
“We sing together everyday. It's a natural thing. We come from a musical background of poets and they sing in church. When you grow up in that kind of environment it tends to rub off on you,” they told The Fader in a interview in 2011.
Taiwo and Kehinde grew up in Ibadan and were given musical direction in the early stage of their career by Lemmy Jackson, a music producer. The twins, who have been inseparable since birth, make music in English and other African languages. Their music structure is a blend of Afrobeat, Jazz, Reggae, Waka and Memphis soul.
After signing a contract with Decca Records in 1969, they released their first album titled 'Iya Mi Jowo' ('Mother Please'). In 1972, the sisters performed at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games alongside 'Salt', a band which consisted of Ginger Baker, whom the sisters met in 1971.
Describing their music, the sisters told The Fader that “Whatever we do as singers, we have to think of what we will say that will gladden people's heart”.
It took them seven years to drop their second album titled 'Danger' under Decca/Afrodisia. The following year, 1977 they released their third album which they titled 'Mother Africa'. They kept the fire burning by releasing their fourth album 'Sunshine' under Afrodisia imprint in 1978. In 1979, the twins dropped their fifth album 'Horizon Unlimited', before going on a five-year break to later come back in '1984' in 'Double Trouble' and their final album in 1997 'Orere Eligjigbo' under a new record company, 'Shanachie'.
Unfortunately, the sisters suffered a setback in 1996, when Kehinde suffered spinal injuries after she fell down in their Brooklyn apartment where they lived on the first floor. Due to the complications, the Lijadu sisters had to stay out of public eye but would later resurface in 2011 to work with Knitting Factory Records.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged six suspects, including two firms, before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja for allegedly diverting N1,301,334,108 from the coffers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The defendants, who were charged before Justice Sherifat Solebo, include Olumide Odumosu, Sule Tegina, Helen Nwafor and Okpalugo Ifeoma. Others are Olu Osmond Nigeria Limited and Jemmy Yus Investment Nigeria Limited. They are facing 14 counts.
In the charge, marked Temp/39698/2018, the EFCC alleged that the defendants stole the N1.3bn from the coffers of the Nigeria Police Force and fraudulently converted it to their own between 2013 and 2014.
According to the anti-graft agency, the defendants conspired with one Ogbadu Joseph and one Hassan Muhammed, who were said to be at large.
The prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, said the defendants acted contrary to Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and were liable to be punished under Section 285(1) of the same Act.
The defendants were billed to be arraigned in court on Thursday, but the proceedings were stalled as the 3rd defendant, Helen Nwafor, told the court that she did not understand English language and would require the charges to be translated to her in Igbo language.
The judge adjourned till November 7, 2018 to get an Igbo interpreter.
The defence counsel, A.O. Osinfowora, prayed that the defendants should be returned to EFCC custody, but Justice Solebo turned the prayer down and ordered instead that the defendants should be remanded in prison custody.
