The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 27 suspected fraudsters for alleged involvement in internet crime.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, 2019, in Abeokuta, Ogun state following the series of intelligence gathered on the activities of suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ in their hide-out.

The suspects are Shotayo Ahmed, Ogunlami Adetokunbo, Joshua Awoyemi, Sadiq Adeola, Olusoga Sadiq, Olalekan Savage, Arinze Princewill, Ojelabi Adewale, Ibrahim Habib, Kadejo Sola, Osho Omotolani, Adeosun Adeyemi, Sobiye Oluwafemi and Temitope Opaogun.

Others are Ademuyiwa Korede,, Azeez Sodiq, Iyedudu Benjamin, Ayeleso Joseph, Akintayo Toluwalope, Ale Olugbenga Abraham, Adebanjo Ayodeji, Ayodeji Yemi, Idris Ayandiran, Shittu Sadiq, Alayo Odunayo and Ayinde Olawale, Wusu Damilare.

Items recovered from the suspects include seven cars, 25 phones, and 10 laptops.

The suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed, according to the EFCC.

The Nigerian Army says light tactical vehicles and other weapons being locally produced by its company, Nigerian Army Vehicle Manufacturing Company (NAVMC), will help in addressing Nigeria’s internal security challenges.

The NAVMC was inaugurated in April this year.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, stated this in an interview with journalists on Thursday after he toured production lines in the company located at Rigachikun in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Buratai disclosed that the first set of the indigenous “light tactical vehicles’’ produced by the company would be exhibited on July 6.

He said that NAVMC was collaborating with Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in the production of the vehicles.

The army chief, however, noted that since the ’60s, there had not been a serious effort at producing military equipment locally.

“The Nigeria defence complex, DICON, will soon be turned around for good.

“This is a very good development and we are keeping to timeline. We are working on mass production of the vehicles.

“The vehicles will help us in curtailing the insecurity in the country. I know everybody is concerned about the insecurity.

“But unfortunately, over the years, since the ’60s, we have not made any serious headway in defence production and local defence production.

“I think if this one – defence complex – takes off as we envisage; we will be good for the nation,’’ he said.

A corps member, Halima Uwani Umar, in January 2019 kidnapped by Boko Haram in the North-east, has been freed, says the Borno State government.

"The insurgents released Ms. Umar as a sign of goodwill to commit to a new process of resolving the conflicts in the region. The state government, the military, the DSS played vital roles in deploying professional field experience and strategic cover for the process. 

"The state government shall continually bring the media up to speed as may be necessary," a statement today by the government explained. 

“We, as a government, are committed to working with the Federal organs of security as well as non-governmental organizations and well-meaning citizens to pursue with vigour the safe return of captives, displaced persons and vulnerable population of our great state.”

Her freedom, the government pointed out, came as a result of a joint coordinated engagement involving key stakeholders.

“It is an outcome,” said the statement, “of a preliminary level negotiation involving the state government, the Kalthium Foundation for Peace, a non-governmental organization with intermediatory negotiation with the leadership of the terror group handled by a prominent investigative journalist with critical access.”

The state government stated that the step was in line with its desire to work with strategic partners to open lines of communication with the insurgents as a means of freeing several non-combatant captives of the terror groups.

It said: “The strategic interventionist team was empaneled to use every necessary tools and good spirited individuals to engage the insurgents in non-combatant ways as a means of de-escalation framework that will eventually result in freeing more captives and safe return of displaced persons in the state.

“The state government shall continually bring the media up to speed as may be necessary.”

Ibrahim Mustapha, a fake doctor and principal medical officer of Cottage hospital, Fufore in Adamawa state, has been arrested by the Department of State Services for killing patients in the cause of his fake practice. 

He is said to have performed over 500 surgical operations causing the death of about 46 patients from January to May 2019.

Parading the fake doctor in Yola on Thursday, DSS Director in the state, Bola Olori, said the DSS has, "effected the arrest of one Ibrahim Mustapha, who operated illegally as a PMO in Fufore Cottage hospital, Fufore local government area of Adamawa state".

Mr. Olori said a preliminary investigation revealed that Mustapha holds National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) certificate, an equivalent of Senior Secondary School certificate or High School.

The fake surgeon confessed to forging MBBS credentials according to the DSS but denied causing the death of any patient throughout his career until his arrest.

"Yes, I've forged the documents as stated by the DSS boss and also done both major and minor surgical operations, including caesarian section, altogether more than 500 surgeries without causing the death of any of my patients as claimed."

But the DSS said, "He perfected the illicit act in Gombe where he worked as a ward attendant in several clinics. He was aided by a practicing doctor who gave him sample copies of his NECO results, MBBS of Bayero University Kano, NYSC Discharge certificate and Medical and Dental Council if Nigeria, annual registration license.

"The suspect subsequently gained employment into the Adamawa state Hospital Management Board in October 2015 as a doctor and rose to the post of PMO, serving at both the Cottage hospital Mayo-Belwa and Fufore."

Mustapha ran out of luck when he attended visa interview as a potential medical team member for the 2019 hajj operations.

He was exposed by a man who knew him in Gombe as a ward attendant in an undisclosed clinic.

President Donald John Trump is setting the Middle East ablaze and the Middle East will be the epicenter of impending global conflagration which history will label as World War III.

Trump, the 45th president of the United States of America, has taken every incremental step to make my prediction a reality in short order.

He commenced the process with his dismantling of the World Order through his unilateral and arbitrary withdrawals from multilateral agreements entered into by the United States through his predecessor, the affable and intellectually inclined President Barack H. Obama.

President Trump withdrew and reneged from Trade Agreements with Mexico and Canada (North America Free Trade Agreement -NAFTA). He also jeopardized a multilateral Trade Agreement between the Americans and the Pacific Rim, all these, without probable just cause or provocation.

President Trump, above and beyond his recalcitrance on trade, also arbitrarily and unilaterally withdrew from the Iran De-nuclearization agreement which was meticulously and painstakingly negotiated between Iran, United States, Britain, France, Germany or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ( JCPOA).

President Trump is the poster boy for division. He has solidified his position as a National and International Flamethrower- in-Chief. He is irresponsibly, the cause of polarization between different interest groups in the United States.

Similarly, Trump has managed to inelegantly create enmity in Europe and Asia within and between disparate groups. He is a magnet for disagreements and bitterness.

President Trump, has too often demonstrated his lack of diplomatic etiquette and finesse in relationships like with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, his near uncouth interactions with the British Royals, his announced advice to PM Theresa May, his subsequent announced preference for PM potentate, Boris Johnson, and his on again, off again friendship with Emmanuel Macron of France.

There is also the not too subtle embrace by Trump of all types of autocrats and tyrants from the Saudi Prince, to Trump's love of the North Korea helmsman, and of course, his unapologetic friendship with Vladmir Putin of Russia (the creator of the Trump Frankenstein?)

Trump, and his warmongers in the current American administration are increasingly accelerating steps by the American government and American military which will invariably and inevitably lead to military confrontations with Iran. 

Iran has been pushed to the wall and to the limit economically and politically, an attack on Iran by America, will be the accelerant which lights the Middle East keg of gun powder which is already lit on many sides; Iran will be the core of tinder!

All the steps which have been taken by President Trump regarding Iran, and the Middle East have been deliberate, intentional and orchestrated upon calculation.

But, the onset of war or military conflict, could be an innocuous incident-accident between material and personnel on both sides of the divide, America and her proxies on the one hand, and Iran on the other.

President Trump, has through words and actions demonstrated that neither he, nor Jared Kushner are even pretending to be honest brokers of peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

This posture is made all too obvious by Trump's ceding and proclaiming Golan Heights as Israel's territory, contrary to International Law, the position of the United Nations and the majority of the Nations of the world!

Even as I write this, President Trump continues to engage in dangerous escalations of tensions and therefore raising to astronomical levels, the real prospects of military conflicts in the Persian Gulf, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, and of course, it will quickly spread to the entire Gulf, Arabia and the Middle East.

It must be noted that Middle East peace has been abandoned for several years since, and the Palestinians have been left in the lurch.

The much-advertised two state solution has witnessed lip-service and utmost neglect at the expense of the people of Palestine, who have been left, holding the bag, an empty bag of promises stemming from the Oslo Peace Accord of more than 20 years ago!

The Palestinians have been orphaned and decimated by frequent military invasions which have witnessed the deaths of 10,000 citizens since, more displacements and loss of territories and increased irrelevance of the so-called Palestinian Authority or Government ever since, give cause for concerns as to the intensity of the fires next time.

All of the Middle East is now ripe for explosions.

The five-year war against Yemen by the Saudi Arabia led Coalition, which is supported by most Arabs, including the African nation of Sudan which is itself, a currently politically unstable nation, the unmitigated sale of arms and weapons to Saudi Arabia and other so-called allies of America in the region.

In addition to President Trump's unabashed support for PM Netanyahu scorch earth policy against Palestinians, in the midst of American convoluted policy regarding Syria, are all bound to culminate into a region wide inferno with unintended consequences and equally wide ranging ramifications.

All the above pre-existing conditions are perilous in, and of themselves, but, these are made worse by the narcissistic nature, inclination and disposition of President Trump and now, the allure of re-election and the predilection of some incumbent American presidents to wag the dog. 

President Trump will Wag the Dog.

Trump will not and cannot resist a wag the dog for 2020, in order to be reelected!
