Ahmed Isah of Abuja-based Brekete Family station has bungled the case of some kids arrested 20 years ago whose whereabouts have been unknown since then.
There is a report by BBC Africa Eye in which Isah had promised heaven and earth, in order to get justice victims of an alleged human rights violation, only for him to later back out.
This has all the signs of someone pulling out of a course following inducement or intimidation.
In the report, Isha was investigating a case involving eight children who were arrested by local vigilantes 20 years ago on the orders of Senator Alphonsus Obi Igbeke Urbanese, who was then a wealthy businessman.
But 20 years after, the children, whose crime was using firecrackers, have yet to be seen by their parents. The youngest of them was just 10 years old.
A cleric, Eberechukwu Attah, was seen in the video expressing the belief that the matter could gain the publicity needed with the help of Isah.

Isa replied, “We will follow up this matter to its logical conclusion by the grace of God.”
Ahmad later called Urbanese, who said he would prove his innocence within three weeks. He was heard saying, “Let me tell you something, they are liars.”
Isah further gave the parents of the affected children hope, saying, “We are going to Anambra State to conclude on this matter. Big men cannot just try anything and get away with it.”
His statement was followed by an enthusiastic applause from parents who believed justice was getting closer to them and would be theirs eventually.
However, after repeated promises of actions, Isah later said he was not going to travel nor investigate the case further.
SaharaReporters learnt that Isah is in the habit of blackmailing government officials with cases of human rights abuses brought to his office, which could be the reason why the case of the missing children was bungled.
According to the source, Isah, also known as 'Ordinary President' feeds off the human rights cases brought before him, especially if the perpetrator is a wealthy government office holder.
It was also learnt that Isah asked the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Ishaq Oloyede to be paying him N4 million monthly but he was rebuffed by JAMB boss.
It was revealed that Isah claimed he had a similar arrangement with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and has been getting money .
“The man is known to have been blackmailing government officials for money. He asked the Registrar of JAMB to be paying him N4 million monthly, but he was rebuffed. He told the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede that he has such an arrangement with INEC, but the man told him that JAMB is not INEC.
“Meanwhile, the radio station is funded by MacArthur Foundation and Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA).”
Isah, however, is not new to controversy. In a recent BBC Africa Eye documentary, published in May 2021, the activist can be seen slapping a lady who was accused of setting her brother’s daughter on fire over an allegation that she is a witch.
The action elicited mixed reactions from the public, with some people criticising him.
Scandal News AddThis : Original Author : SaharaReporters, New York Disable advertisements :The Alliance on Surviving Covid-19 and Beyond (ASCAB) has knocked Governor Nasir El-Rufai for declaring the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba wanted.
This was made known in a letter signed by the Interim Chairman of ASCAB, Femi Falana (SAN).
El-Rufai on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday declared the labour leaders wanted for ‘economic sabotage & attacks on public infrastructure under Miscellaneous Offences Act.’
He tweeted, “KADUNA UPDATE: Ayuba Wabba & others of @NLCHeadquarters declared wanted for economic sabotage & attacks on public infrastructure under Miscellaneous Offences Act. Anyone that knows where he is hiding should send a message to @MOJKaduna. KDSG. There will be a handsome reward!”
However, the Alliance described the statement as laughable, noting that it is common knowledge that Wabba and his colleagues were on the streets of Kaduna leading the peaceful protest embarked upon by workers in the state.
The letter explained that the directive of the governor cannot be enforced for the following reasons:
"By the combined effect of the Trade Union Act and the Nigerian Constitution, Comrade Wabba and other labour leaders have the unquestionable rights to participate in the peaceful warning strike and mass protests against further retrenchment of workers in the Kaduna State public service. See Also Breaking News BREAKING: Kaduna Governor, El-Rufai Declares NLC President, Wabba, Other Labour Leaders Wanted, Offers Reward 0 Comments 10 Hours Ago
"The Miscellaneous Offences Act is not a state statute but a federal enactment. To that extent, if Governor El Rufai has evidence that Comrade Wabba and other labour leaders have contravened any provisions of the Act, he is required to lodge a complaint in any of the police stations in Kaduna State. The Governor lacks the power to declare any alleged offender wanted under the Act or any other law whatsoever.
"Furthermore, since Comrade Wabba and other labour leaders are entitled to the fundamental right of fair hearing including presumption of innocence guaranteed by section 36 of the Constitution, the Governor of Kaduna lacks the power to declare them wanted.
"In Benedict Peters v. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission & Anor. (Suit No: FCT/HC/BW/CV/23/2021) of 22nd March, 2018 even though the EFCC had obtained a warrant for the arrest of the Plaintiff the Court held that:
"But neither the said warrant nor any of those statutes, including the Police Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act provide that the 1st Respondent can declare any person who is suspected to have committed an offence, but is evading warrant of arrest as a wanted person, without an order of court first had and obtained.” See Also Sahara Reporters NLC President, Wabba Replies Kaduna Governor, El-Rufai After Being Declared Wanted 0 Comments 8 Hours Ago
The group then called on the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to ignore the illegal statement made by the governor.
It noted that in a previous similar case: Eperokun v. University of Lagos (1986) 4 NWLR (PT 34) 162 at 172, the Supreme Court held that “...constitutionally entrenched provisions, particularly those safeguarding individual rights, should not, save in a fascist system, be lightly trampled upon.”

Okorie said in a post on his Facebook page that the sum would be spent on tiling the floor and repainting the walls of the cell in Abakaliki.
He identified his friend as Uka Franklin Chikaodili, who was invited along with him by the police.
He said he was first held at the SCID cell for three days before he was moved to the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Afikpo, Afikpo North Local Government, where he spent 11 days.
According to The Nation, he was detained for allegedly “defaming the wife of a serving commissioner and criticising the state government.”
In the post titled ‘The joy ahead is greater than the little afflictions we see today,’ Okorie said he would sponsor a monthly football league for the inmates between June and December “with cash rewards per month.”
He wrote on his Facebook page the police told him his arrest and detention followed “orders from above”.
He wrote: “The last two weeks further justify my conviction to leave the eczema government of Chief David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State.
“I was invited with my friend, Uka Franklin Chikaodili, by the police on March 14, 2020, for interrogation for a case that should ordinarily be civil.
“We honoured the invitation. I was still writing my statement when the police, without even reading through, preferred a charge against us.
“To perfect the bidding of their paymasters, I was deliberately charged to the magistrates’ court with the intent to deny me bail and remand me in prison custody.
“I spent the remaining 11 days at the Nigeria Correction Centre, Afikpo. While in custody, I read new books and made friends.
“In appreciation to God for the privilege to experience the Nigerian prison like many prominent world leaders, me and my friend, brother, and colleague, Engr. Uka, have decided to donate N1 million in contract to the Nigerian Police for the purpose of renovating the cell, including tiling the floors and repainting the entire cell.
“I, through my foundation, Comr. O.O. Daniels Foundation, shall in the spirit of engaging the inmates, sponsor a monthly football league, starting from next month till the end of the year. The first, second and third teams shall cruise to their cells with cash rewards per month.
“I shall also set up a legal team to assist inmates that are in custody for standing for justice.”

NUPENG also described El-Rufai as arrogant and power drunk.
Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai
In a statement on Tuesday, National President and National Secretary of NUPENG, Comrade Williams Akporeha and Comrade Afolabi Olawale, lamented the attack on peaceful protesters in the state.
Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and other affiliate union members on Tuesday protested in Kaduna City.
They had earlier declared a five-day warning strike to push the governor to reverse his decision to sack thousands of workers.
But the peaceful protesters were attacked by hoodlums loyal to the state government.
El-Rufai had earlier declared the NLC president, Ayuba Wabba and some other labour leaders wanted and put a bounty on his head for "economic sabotage".
In the statement, the labour leaders described El-Rufai as despotic and dictatorial.
They therefore called on the Federal Government to caution the governor so as not to push NUPENG to shut down the whole country.
As petroleum and gas workers, a strike action by the union will affect fuel and power supply.
The statement said, “Our union is raising this alarm following the very reliable report of the clandestine move of Governor Nasir El-Rufai to hurt and put the lives of NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and other labour leaders to danger in his usual blind egotistical style of running government in the state.
“NUPENG therefore warns that if any harm is inflicted on any of the members of organised labour, the leadership of the union will not hesitate to call on all our members throughout the nation for a total shut down of all our services in the upstream, mid-stream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.
“In the light of the above, we are therefore putting all NUPENG members nationwide on red alert and may at very short notice of five hours call for a nationwide industrial action if situation arises.”

Briefing journalists Tuesday shortly after the state executive council meeting presided over by Okowa, the immediate past Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu disclosed that the 25 commissioners as well as the Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie; Chief of Staff, David Edevwie; Senior Political Adviser, Funkekeme Solomon; Chief Strategist, Festus Aga's and Special Advisers have been dismissed.
Delta state governor Ifeanyi Okowa
According to the former information commissioner, the dissolution was aimed at bringing on board fresh blood that will join hands with the governor to achieve his agenda of a stronger Delta.
"The governor thanked and commended members of the dissolved cabinet for their contributions to the successes of his administration in the past six years including those who joined in last two years. The governor also directed that all the affected former appointees to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their respective Ministries," he said.
Aniagwu stated that before the state Exco dissolution, the sum of N2.8 billion for the purchase and upgrade of facilities at the recently established three universities in the state was approved by it as well as the dismissal of one Bernard Onomugo from the state civil service over alleged smuggling of names into the state payroll.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the dissolution of the state executive council by the state governor was not unconnected to the 2023 general elections as most of his cabinet members and appointees were already heating up the polity.

He also condemned the use of thugs to disrupt the workers' peaceful protest in Kaduna noting that members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) enjoyed the freedom and rights to protest when they were in opposition.

The senator disclosed this on Tuesday in statement while reacting to the disruption of labour protest by sponsored thugs.
Sani urged the Kaduna State government to be tolerant of dissent and criticism. He said the consistent and systemic use of violence against peaceful protests and criticism would worsen armed insurrection in the country.
The statement read, "The declaration of the NLC President wanted by the Kaduna State Government is needless. Strikes and protests are constitutional and fundamental rights of Nigerian workers.
"Consistent and systemic use of violence against peaceful protests and criticism contribute to the rise of armed insurrection in the country.
"Since the NLC action is a warning strike, there is window for dialogue to resolve the issue of the mass sacking of the Kaduna workers."
He stated that a strong and proactive labour union was needed to protect and safeguard democracy.
