Less than 24 hours after the Islamic State West Africa Province released a video showing the execution of four aid workers in Borno State, the terrorist group has released another video of victims begging the President Muhammadu Buhari-led regime to rescue them.

The video showing 12 males and one female victims, was published by Ahmad Salkida, a conflict and terrorism reporter in Nigeria.

Speaking in the video, a lecturer of College of Education, Gashua, Yobe State, Bitrus Zakka Bwala, condemned the Nigerian Government for not doing enough to rescue Nigerians kidnapped by Boko Haram, ISWAP and other militant groups in the country.

Zakka also blamed the continued detention of Leah Sharibu by Boko Haram sect on government’s inaction.

Some other people identified in the video are Muktar Adam, who works with the Federal University of Wukari, Taraba State.

The terrorist group claims the female captive was in the convoy of soldiers ambushed in Mainok, close to Maiduguri, capital of Borno.

She is attired in a patch of military fatigue but denies being a member of the military, said the group.

Zakka urged the Nigerian Government and other religious groups in the country to do all they can to ensure they are not executed by ISWAP.

He said, “I was on my way to my station when I was abducted.

"I appeal to the Federal Government, as you can see here there are various Christians among those abducted at various points.

“I equally appeal to Christian associations to do whatever that is within their reach in order to rescue us.

“When we came, we saw some workers here particularly the ones with the Action Against Hunger before they were executed. We saw that government had not done enough and that is why Leah Sharibu is still here.

“We, therefore, appeal in particular to President Muhammadu Buhari to do whatever is within his reach to rescue us."

The Lagos State Government has said it has begun the demolition of distressed buildings in the state.

Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Oke-Osanyintolu said that not less than five distressed buildings in the state had been demolished.

According to him, before the agency carried out the exercise, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Material Testing Agency and Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning had made recommendations to the government.

He said, “The Ministry’s recommendations are necessary to carry out stress tests to ascertain the integrity of the buildings.

“After thorough investigations, the ministry agreed that the houses should be taken to ground zero.

“Consequently, residents of the buildings were advised to vacate the premises within five days for their safety."

Premium Times, an independent news platform in Nigeria, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately fire Yusuf Bichi, head of the Department of State Services, over his role in his men's Invasion of the Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday to rearrest Omoyele Sowore.

DSS Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, had initially denied the invasion despite evidence.

The service later backtracked when Bichi sent a delegation to apologise to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court over the incident.

In an editorial on Friday, Premium Times said, "The frightening scale of impunity and arbitrary conduct under the presidency of General Muhammadu Buhari plumbed new depths on Friday, December 6 when armed operatives of the State Security Service (often called the Department of State Services – DSS), invaded Federal High Court No. 7 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

"We are now at that point where it is being argued that never in the history of Nigeria, including during the colonial period and the dark days of military rule, has such brazen act of disrespect for the sanctity of our law courts and independence of the judiciary been perpetrated.

"We are greatly concerned that the DSS under the leadership of Yusuf Bichi has repeatedly acted as if it is above the laws of the land. The serial violations of the fundamental human rights of the citizens by the security outfit since Mr Bichi assumed the reins of leadership and the disdain with which it has been treating the judicial arm of government through flagrant disobedience of court orders that seek to put a stop to such violations, have indeed become routine.

"Evidently, Mr Bichi’s DSS has become a major threat to the norms and values of a democratic system. The time has come for Mr Yusuf Bichi to step down as the head of the organisation.

"We hereby demand that he should immediately step down as boss of the DSS. We also demand that the DSS tenders a public apology to the judiciary for its unwarranted assault on the sacred institution."

The Islamic State West Africa Province on Friday claimed it has executed four male humanitarian workers in their captivity.

The victims, who work with Action Against Hunger, had been abducted since July 2019.

The only female among them, Grace Taku, according to ISWAP, has been condemned to a life of slavery.

Ahmad Salkida, known to have strong intelligence on the terror group, confirmed the story in a post on Twitter.

It was reported that they were abducted in July along Gubio/ Damasak Highway in Borno State.

Taku had in recent past appealed to the Federal Government and Christian Association of Nigeria to save her life.
