The police in India on Sunday arrested a Nigerian for defrauding a jobseeker.

Officers from Thiruvananthapuram Cybercrime Police Station arrested Kingsley Udeh from Bengaluru.

Udeh carried out the act through a job portal named 'Carreers', the New Indian Express reports.

"The accused offered the job of a senior electrical engineer in the United States and sought money for arranging the appointment order, work permit and insurance cover.

"Udeh made fake papers to convince the retired engineer and fraudulently obtained Rs 6 lakh from him at different stages.

"The petitioner sent money to various bank accounts of the accused but grew suspicious after Udeh sought further funds, which prompted him to lodge a police complaint,” said Cybercrime DySP Jeeji N.

Police tracked down the suspect with the help of his ATM card, email ID and CCTV footage.

Udeh was arraigned before the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate, which ordered his remand in judicial custody.

The Action Democratic Party has urged the civil society in Nigeria to keep demanding for the release of Omoyele Sowore and other citizens being held in detention.

The party also called on the government to immediately release Sowore, Agba jalingo, Jones Abiri, Steven Kefas and Abubakar Idris (Dadiyata).

ADP in a statement by its Lagos Publicity Secretary, Adelaja Adeoye, said the government must be able to take feedback from the people they are governing.

Adelaja said, “The government should not be afraid of criticisms because most citizens want good governance, in the absence of that, they will continue to agitate and demand for an improved economy, welfare and things that will better their lives.

“It will not be too good that Sowore who was a presidential candidate in the February 2019 election is detained for mobilising a mass action to demand good governance.

“Nigerians, civil society organisations both locally and internationally should continue to prevail on the government, those detained must not be forgotten in prison irrespective of what they had done in the past."

The police in Meghalaya, India, has arrested six Nigerians in East Jaiñtia Hills on Saturday, bringing the total number of foreign nationals arrested to nine within a span of two days.

The Nigerians are Thomson Nwafama, 29, Chijioke Obiacha, 28, Desmond Uzochkwu, 25, Okoliegbe Henry Onyedika, 33, Okeke Justin, 32, and Chukwunyere Christian, 30.

East Jaiñtia Hill superintendent of police, Vivekanand Singh, said on Saturday that the six Nigerians travelling by night bus from Silchar to Guwahati, were detected and detained for interrogation, the Telegraph India reports.

He said, “They admitted that they had travelled from Africa to Bangladesh on visas issued by competent authorities but had illegally entered India near Agartala on Friday."

From Agartala, they travelled by car to Silchar, and were assisted by residents of both Bangladesh as well as India, he added.

A case was registered at Lumshnong police station under the Foreigner’s Act.

On Friday, three foreign nationals were detained and arrested in the same district and also booked under the Foreigner’s Act.

The modus operandi adopted by the three — one from Ivory Coast and two from Nigeria — to enter India was the same as the one adopted by the six Nigerians.

Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, President of Alaigbo Development Foundation (a body of the Igbo intelligentsia) says the Fulani tribe in Nigeria are running the country as a personal estate bequeathed to them by their father (Usman dan Fodio).

"And Nigeria has truly become the estate of the children of Usmanu dan Fodio. Nigeria has fully and truly become colonised. But can we blame the children of Usman dan Fodio alone? I doubt if we can. When in 2016, (Asiwaju) Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared that zoning and rotation were the affair of the PDP and had nothing to do with the All Progressives Congress, I knew we were in for a very cold winter," he told Punch in an interview.

Speaking further he said, "When people say that basic principles that should keep a multi-national state together no longer matter and should no longer be operational, then it means that you have dissolved the federation. Thus, those that have seized the federation are telling us how they want to run the state.

"That is what Governor el-Rufai is telling us. What else do you want me to say? The Fulani have permanently taken over power. Fulani settlements have been established all over the place. (There are plans to have) RUGA, cattle grazing colonies and (there are) moves to take over all waterways, etc. They have taken over the executive, legislature, judiciary, security agencies and armed forces, bureaucracy, economy, foreign affairs, etc. El-Rufai is daring you to do your worst."

According to Nwala, although the northern 'political hawks' used Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar to "torpedo the patriotic decisions of the 1994-95 Constitutional Conference, when we formed the Peoples Democratic Party, many of us who were leaders of the G-34 and who had worked hard to see if there could be a genuine post-military political dispensation, were still determined to uphold those key elements we had agreed on, and in fact, voted for".

One of such decisions, he disclosed, was the implementation of the principle of rotation, zoning and Federal Character.

He, however, noted: "You can see what is happening today; the principle of quota is gone, the principle of rotation is gone, the principle of zoning is gone and the principle of Federal Character has been thrown into the dustbin. Thus, all the basic democratic ingredients that could hold the polity together have been completely eroded."

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the legacy of determined, proud and assertive black emancipation left by the late Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe will live long in the hearts of Africans.

He also stated that Africans should be proud of their achievements as black people.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a statement on Saturday, said the vice president conveyed the message on the condolence register for Mugabe at Harare International Airport.

Osinbajo was in Zimbabwe to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the state funeral of the late former president of Zimbabwe.

“Nigeria most respectfully condoles with the Republic of Zimbabwe on the passing of her President, Robert Mugabe – who led the republic and her people to freedom and majority rule – alongside so many other patriots.

“His legacy of determined, proud and assertive black emancipation will live long in the hearts of Africans.

”We wish the people of Zimbabwe great peace and prosperity.”

Osinbajo, later while speaking with Zimbabwean journalists at the Harare International Airport, said that Mugabe was a great encouragement to the independent movements everywhere.

He said that Mugabe was also a great motivation to self-realization for black people practically everywhere.

According to Osinbajo, the passing on of Mugabe is indeed sad, especially for those who are leaders today.

“First let me say that for all of us, the whole of Africa, the memories of the years of decolonization, the years of the struggle for black majority rule in various places are years that bring joy and confidence to most of us, especially leaders today.

“This is one of the reasons why President Mugabe stood out as one of those leaders whose zeal, passion and selfless commitment to the emancipation of the people of Zimbabwe was not only a great encouragement to the independent movement everywhere but more to the self-realization for black people practically everywhere.

“So, his passing is indeed sad. I think that for most of us, especially those who are leaders today, there’s a lot to learn from such an incredibly illustrious career, especially the role that he played in decolonization.

“And, of course, alongside the work that was done, not just by the frontline states, but by the likes of Nelson Mandela in South Africa and so many other African patriots; their lives and times, especially during the period of the struggle for black majority rule in Southern Africa and the support that other African countries gave, especially sub-Saharan African countries; Nigeria being, as you have noted, a frontline state.

“There are times when I think we should be extremely proud of what we achieved as black people,” he said.
